My Journalism Class

My journalism class is a subject where we learned a lot of things that others doesn't know. Our school has journalism class from 1st/Grade 7 up to 4th year. Knowing that other schools doesn't have journalism class, I feel so blessed that we are taught a lot of things in journalism by our teacher, Mr. Paul Geraño. We learned a lot of things from him. Like the elements of a news, the inverted pyramid, how to write proper sentences, proper structure of the news, right grammar and many more.

Capiz

Capiz? Aren't this place known for the aswangs and aswang stories? Well, to be honest, yes the place is known for that. And as what they've said, there's one barangay in there where it is just occupied all by the known aswangs or in English witches. But let's not talk about that and all those negatives about Capiz because it's time for us to see the beauty of Capiz.

Capiz is also known for it's caves. Some caves leads you to beaches, while others to forests or mountains. People there go to caves to make tambay or if they want to be alone. They also hangout there with their friends and eat too.

They also have this huge statue of Mother Mary at the top of the mountain. When they want to go there, they just tell the the driver of the motor that they want to go to Igtalin. Before, the road or pathway that leads to the top was not yet cemented but now, there's an alternate road to choose if where they want to pass. There's also stations of the cross near the top. A chapel can also be found on the top. And people usually goes there during Holy Weeks.

I'm not that familiar with the whole Capiz. Only Pilar, Capiz because it's the hometown of my mom's parents and relatives. I also have cousins who lives in Capiz.

Before, when I was still 5, me and my family went up in a mountain of Pilar to visit the sibling of my grandfather. We passed through a big waterfall and it was rocky. But I was surprised to see the difference between the city and the mountain. There, it is peaceful, clean air and clear water.

Here are pictures of the church of Pilar Capiz.

Here is a picture of there municipal hall.
And lastly, a picture of their auditorium.

Garin Farm

Garin Farm, is located at San Joaquin, Iloilo City. It is a farm and the same time a resort.

It is owned by the Garin Family. Before, Garin Farm was located at Guimbal, Iloilo but years later, they built another one at San Joaquin.

From Iloilo City, it is 2 hours of travel until you get to Garin Farm. There's an entrance fee of 180 pesos.

The place is also a nice place to go if it's Holy Week because they have stations of the cross there and on the top of more than a hundred step stairs, you can find there a big cross. When you reach the top, you will be amazed of the view that you can see from up there.

There are also rooms where you can stay for a night. They also have a zip line, a swimming pool, and you can also do paddle boat in there. You can also feed the doves that goes near you when you ring the bell.

You're not allowed to bring outside foods. They have their own restaurant.

You can also rent a car if you want to roam around the resort. They also sell veggies.

Belief of Spanish People in building a house.

  1. Spaniards believe that if you build a house, the stairs should not be in fromt of any door. It can be in front of the door as long as the door is not facing the gate of the house. They believe that if the stairs is aligned with the door and the door is also aligned with the gate, the blessing will run away from you. That's why that there should be something or a balcony which prevents the stairs stairs in aligning with the gate. For short it means that the stairs should not be aligned with the door and gate.
  1. Another belief is that when you build a house you should decide if how many steps there'll be because in every step there are meanings. There are actually 3 counts. You should start counting from Uro. Then Plata. Last will be Mata. The last step of the stairs should end in Uro.
          •Uro- it means gold.
          •Plata- it means silver
          •Mata- it means death.

3. The toilets should be outside of the house.
4. Rooms are interconnected with each other. This idea is ideal when the family have a visistor. It is for the children not to interrupt their parents when they're talking with the visitors. Interconnected rooms allows them to go around the house without disturbing the visitors.
5. There are 2 stairs in the house. The girls passes in the other stairs while the boys in the other stairs. If there's only one stairs, they should pass in not the same side.
6. When a house is painted with color white, the owner is not that rich. If it's painted with other colors, the owner is rich enough that they can afford to buy colored paint. Colored paint ,excluding white, shows that you are a rich and noble man.
Here's an example of a telephone long ago.
-It has a note in there because it is already very old and it might be broken if people will keep on touching it.
